A new chapter begins for Planetarium: Following the conclusion of the 117 episodes of the regular format, the water-themed Neptunian series and the earth-themed Geophon series welcome a new member to the family: Nox. In the vein of Planetarium mixes such as Widerhall, Perigäum and Nachtlandung, Silhouetten makes a foray into the nocturnal theme of which many sets will follow.

Note: After the next (250th) upload, Planetarium will consist of five series: Neptunian (Water), Geophon (Earth), Jovian (Air), Lumen (Day) and Nox (Night). These cover new releases in ambient and will accommodate for the discontinuation of Open Firmament, Botanik and the regular Planetarium series. “Flume” (water channel) is the English translation of the title of a new Planetarium curated 90-minute set that makes forest scapes almost tangible. With water rivulets surrounding you in your aural environment, this is as close to nature ambient as it can get. The compilation featuring the mavens of modern classical and electic sound feasts is very grounded, soft like moss, but still captures an atmosphere that feels ethereal.

The sea arch is Helioscope’s gateway to 2019: With the first mix of my eighth year of producing sets, I introduce newcomers Kin Leonn, Innesti and Kenji Kihara to the Planetarium roster. Coastal ambient is the major theme here, an aural soundscape constructed from reverb-heavy guitars, piano melodies that make you float and sunny drones. Endless Melancholy, Hirotaka Shirotsubaki, Steven Kemner and Umber are thrown into the mix to bridge the cold northern hemisphere winter with these 90 minutes of warm and lush vibes.
